About Northwest Park’s 2021 Summer Camp Foxfire

Join us this summer for a nature adventure at Northwest Park! Camp Foxfire day camp engages children in active, field-based exploration where they can develop a deeper appreciation of nature while learning new skills and having fun outdoors. We accomplish these objectives through a variety of activities that nurture each child’s curiosity for nature to create a dynamic and thrilling learning experience! Themed activities are designed to stimulate scientific thinking and collaborative problem-solving skills children will need to become well informed and environmentally literate citizens in a rapidly changing world.

For our younger campers in PreK-Gr.2, some of their favorite activities include meeting our heritage breed farm animals up close and personal, hiking the trails to find wildlife clues and rolling logs to search for salamanders. Our Gr. 3-5 campers get more hands-on as they mimic Nature’s Engineers by building models of beaver dams using natural materials after observing the beaver dam onsite and dipping nets in the pond to study aquatic life. As campers get older, they will experience even greater adventures. The 6-8th grade campers have the opportunity to take day trips offsite to local state parks, canoe Rainbow Reservoir and to practice essential survival skills by building campfires and shelters.

Our highest priority is to provide the best service to our community in the safest manner possible. We want to assure you that park educators are working diligently to stay informed about any guidelines and restrictions that will be applied to summer camp programs in our town and state this year and are developing program modifications as necessary. We look forward to hosting your greatest adventure yet!
