Find a good bargain at the silent auction. Rounding out the day will be many demonstrations by local organizations, students, scouts and Northwest Park staff as well as the popular CTChip (Child Identification Program).  Tour the maple sugarhouse and the tobacco museum  and visit the Master Gardener’s from UCONN’s Hartford County Co-Op Extension, at the organic garden to answer your gardening questions.   Stop by the farmers’ market and take home some local treats.

New Program, October 5:
Beckoning the Mountain: Honoring Nature, Reflection, and the Creative Self

From 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, join nature writer Katherine Hauswirth, author of The Book of Noticing: Collections and Connections on the Trail, in an exploration of stillness and observation in nature and how this can help build a sense of connection and creativity. She’ll share an award-winning piece from her book and offer tips for making the most of even brief forays into the natural world. Participants will part ways for a segment of the session to spend time alone in nature. There will be time at the end for reflecting on the experience and discussing how to take it further. Sponsored by the Friends of Northwest Park. Registration required. $10 (Windsor residents), $15 (nonresidents), Free for FONWP members – please call to verify registration. 860-285-1886.
