Backyard Gardening Tips from Northwest Park!

Tuesday  August 24
5:00 – 7:00 pm

Whether you are new to kitchen gardening or an “old hand”, join us in the Organic Demonstration Garden at Northwest Park for FREE tips, diagnoses and recommendations from the UConn Extension Master Gardeners! Now in our fifth year as a Signature Project of the Hartford and Tolland County Cooperative
Extension Master Gardeners, we provide self-guided learning about growing herbs, vegetables and perennial food crops. Come see what we have in our beds and leave with new ideas! We use organic methods, including the principles of Integrated Pest Management, from prevention to treatment.

THIS MONTH: It’s harvest time, which also means looking back at successes and challenges to learn from for next year! It’s time to thwart pests and diseases (and hungry critters) so let’s share experiences, learn about good soil management all season long, see how we attract pollinators and sample some of our harvest!

We will observe “distancing” in our large garden space, but please bring a mask for any close-up observations.

No rain date – heavy rain/storm will cancel – more events coming up!

Northwest Park is located at 145 Lang Road in Windsor; the Organic Garden is found a short distance down the dirt road that passes between the Animal Barn and the large animal pastures – look for signs! For more information, please email Nancy at nrbowden@nullcomcast.net.
